I do nails out of a room in my house in Orem, one client at a time, by appointment.
I trained through Utah's apprenticeship route — 375 supervised hours under a licensed technician, which is more hands-on hours than the classroom programme requires, and all of them on real hands rather than practice ones.
The studio exists because of what I kept running into as a client. Being booked at the same time as two other people. Getting a text an hour before to move the appointment. Being quietly charged extra for asking for a shape I'd asked for the last four visits. None of that is anybody's fault exactly — it's what a busy salon floor does to a schedule. It's just not how I want to work.
So: one chair, one appointment at a time, a price list that means what it says, and enough time budgeted that if your cuticles need ten extra minutes, they get ten extra minutes.
The evening slot
Most of my hours are during school hours, because I have three kids and that's the honest shape of my week. But I kept hearing the same thing from people who work full time — that nobody in Orem has an appointment they can actually get to. So Tuesday and Thursday evenings are set aside for exactly that, and they're the first ones to go.
